Chasing the Smoke that Thunders: A Dreamy 3-Night (4-Day) Victoria Falls Extension

There is a reason Victoria Falls sits at the top of almost every traveler’s bucket list—known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, The Smoke that Thunders. It’s a place where the earth literally vibrates under your feet.

At Access2Africa Safaris, we believe that “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’ve designed a seamless 3-Night Victoria Falls Extension that can be added to any of our regular tours.

If you’ve been dreaming of seeing one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World but were worried about the logistics of navigating the terrain in a wheelchair, don’t worry—we’ve got the ramps, the lifts, and the local know-how covered.

The Journey There

Getting to the Falls often involves a smaller aircraft. We know that for some of our wheelchair users, boarding these smaller planes can be a bit of a puzzle. If that’s a concern for you, let’s talk! We are experts at finding workarounds, whether it’s specific boarding assistance or looking at alternative routes to ensure you get to the Falls comfortably and safely.

Your 3-Night Itinerary: At a Glance

We’ve curated an itinerary that balances high-octane views with soulful, relaxed evenings. Here’s what your “adventure after the safari” looks like:

Day 1: Golden Hour on the Zambezi After we pick you up from Victoria Falls Airport in our accessible vehicle, we’ll settle you into the beautiful Nkosi Lodge. We kick things off with a Sunset Dinner Cruise. Imagine sipping a cold drink as the sky turns purple and orange, watching hippos pop up in the river while you enjoy a delicious meal on board.

Day 2: The Main Event & A Boma Feast. Today is all about the views. We’ll take a Guided Falls Tour on the Zimbabwe side, which offers some of the most iconic, mist-drenched panoramas. In the afternoon, we’ll head out for an eye-opening Village Tour to meet the locals. We wrap up the day with a Boma Dinner—an immersive experience of drumming, dancing, and traditional flavors.

Day 3: Heights and Heritage If you’re feeling brave, today offers an optional helicopter tour (the “Flight of Angels”) for a bird’s-eye view of the gorge. We’ll also visit the historic Victoria Falls Hotel for a touch of old-world elegance before heading to Dusty Roads for a final dinner that celebrates authentic local cuisine.

Day 4: Farewells One last breakfast together before your airport transfer. You’ll leave with a camera full of photos and a heart full of memories!

A collage of three photos:

On the left, a large, modern river cruise boat with two decks and white curtains glowing inside floats on calm water at sunset under a cloudy sky.

At the top right, a grand colonial-style building with a red-tiled roof sits behind a manicured lawn and a central brick walkway lined with plants.

At the bottom right, two staff members assist a person in a wheelchair using a lift at the back of a white van parked along a roadside with trees nearby.

Why Book the Extension?

Logistics can be the “vibe-killer” of any vacation, especially when you have specific access needs. When you add this extension to your A2A Safari, we handle the heavy lifting:

  • Accessible Transfers: No “making it work”—our vehicles are ready for you.
  • Inclusive Dining: Most meals (and all those incredible views) are already baked into the plan.
  • Expert Guides: People who know the best paths and the smoothest routes.

Ready to see the Thunder?

The Falls are calling, and we’d love to take you there. Whether you want to add this to your upcoming safari or just want to chat about how we can make the flight work for you, we’re here to help.
